What is a sick visit?

A sick visit refers to any visit to the doctor that’s intended to treat an illness or condition from which you’re currently suffering. During a sick visit, Dr. Mope properly assesses your symptoms, effectively diagnosing your condition, and devising a treatment strategy to get you feeling better again.

When should I come in for a sick visit?

You should come in for a sick visit whenever you’re feeling sick and want to get healthy again. Some of the common symptoms that bring patients in for sick visits include:
Fever
You should see Dr. Mope if you have a fever that:
• Lasts for more than 48 hours
• Is accompanied by vomiting or diarrhea that lasts for more than 12 hours or is bloody
• Comes and goes for a week or more
• Is accompanied by a sore throat and a headache for more than 48 hours
• Is above 103 degrees even when you take medication or enact cool-down measures like taking a cool bath or applying a cool compress

Congestion
Book an appointment with Dr. Mope if your congestion lasts for more than 10 days or if you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms with your congestion:
• Severe sinus pain
• Yellow or green nasal discharge
• A fever over 100.4 degrees
• Sore throat or difficulty breathing

Cough
If your cough is painful or if your chest feels tight when you breathe, you should be evaluated by Dr. Mope. Some other signs that your cough might necessitate a sick visit include:
• Coughing up blood
• Coughing lasts for more than three weeks
• Shortness of breath or wheezing
• Cough that’s accompanied by a fever
• Cough that lasts for more than a week and produces yellow, green, or tan mucus

Sore throat
A sore throat that’s preventing you from swallowing, eating, or drinking is an excellent reason to book a sick visit.

Headache
A headache accompanied by a fever, stiff neck, persistent vomiting, and/or diarrhea could indicate that you have an infection that could be addressed by a sick visit.

Abdominal pain
Schedule a sick visit if you have abdominal pain and:
• Bloating that lasts for longer than two days
• Diarrhea for five or more days
• Fever
• A burning or painful sensation when urinating
• Unexplained weight loss

Vomiting and diarrhea
If you’re experiencing uncontrollable and/or bloody vomiting or diarrhea, you should see Dr. Mope immediately.

What happens during a sick visit?

When you come in for a sick visit, Dr. Mope first evaluates your symptoms. She spends time talking with you about how you’ve been feeling and what exactly has brought you into her office.

To get a better idea of what might be causing your problems, she might perform a number of in-office diagnostics, such as measuring your vital signs or examining your throat and ears.

Once she determines what’s causing your symptoms, she’ll work with you to devise a treatment plan and alleviate your symptoms while helping your body heal from the underlying issue.
